PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Seek consulting service opportunities with a foundation, organization or agency
involved in restoration of historic properties and preservation of those properties for
public education, appreciation and enjoyment. The position or consulting service
opportunities sought would ideally utilize my restoration expertise gained from restoring
historic buildings in the Chicago area to their original turn-of-the-century appearance,
and from restoring an entire old northern Wisconsin town that represents the history of
three cultures American Indian, French-Canadian and European-American. The desired
position or consulting service opportunities also would ideally utilize my organizational,
public relations, and supervisory experience gained during those restoration projects.

Seek consulting service opportunities with a property management/consulting company
that will utilize my practical organizational, supervisory and operations experience.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Expertise gained over a period of nearly thirty-five years in the combined process of
obtaining state and national historic designation of the original northern Wisconsin town
of Springstead; attracting people to the old town during the entire restoration process
through a number of old-time-music and other events; and obtaining official support from
the state officials, including Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, and national officials,
including President Bill Clinton, in the form of letters of commendation, certificates and
plaques.
Interior designing of 18th, 19th and early 20th
century. Installation of decorative steel ceilings and steel panels. Lathe and plaster.
Over thirty years experience in managing preventative maintenance and repair of
large facilities requiring small or large staffs.
Over thirty years experience in motivating employees, establishing preventative
maintenance programs, budgeting, personnel functions and troubleshooting problem areas.
Expertise includes carpentry, structures, electricity, HVAC, water systems, stone and
cement work, boilers, plumbing, building construction/renovation, chilled water and
sprinkler systems, space planning, horticultural management and design.
Also experienced with asbestos and lead paint removal, roof systems, pneumatic systems
and various fire prevention systems.
Member of Iron County Heritage Tourism Task Force. Working relationship with State of
Wisconsin Tourism Department, State Historical Society, State Archeological Department
Collaborated with numerous Main Street organizations
SAMPLE ACHIEVEMENTS
Developed and implemented a state-of-the-art estimating formula on historic and
vintage buildings for real estate, insurance companies, Main Street organizations,
historic societies, etc.
Saved five deteriorating historic structures in the original town of Springstead from
demolition; completely restored four of those structures; obtained "most endangered
historic structure" status for the fifth to insure its future restoration; secured
state and national historic designation for the entire old town, made the public aware of
the old towns existence as a part of the peoples local, state and national
heritage; and provided the people access to that part of their heritage through tours,
overnight stays, musical events and fund-raising efforts for the Arthritis Foundation and
similar organizations.
Restored and renovated village hall of Westmont and other municipally owned buildings.
Engineered and supervised grade changes on entire west side of privately owned businesses
and insured structural soundness. Also engineered and supervised entire 200 plus acre
sub-division streets and storm water sewers.
Saved educational facility over $250,000 through improved efficiency according to
controllers report.
Managed the restoration and renovation of an exclusive hotel health and fitness clubs
with a project budget of $12 million.
Restored numerous Victorian houses, other structures built at the turn of the century,
and structures of varying historic vintage to their original condition.
Personal recognition and awards from President Bill Clinton, Governor Tommy Thompson,
World recognized historian Dr. James A. Bill Professor of Government
Director Emeritus, Reves Center for International Studies The College of William
and Mary, Wisconsin State Historical Society, National Trust Foundation, Museum Curators,

PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT
SPRINGSTEAD HISTORIC DISTRICT, Springstead, WI, Curator 1991 to
Present
Self-employed as curator of the Springstead Historic District, overseeing continued
restoration/preservation of the original town of Springstead; raising funds for its
continued operation as a heritage tourism attraction; promoting public appreciation of its
historic value through such events as old-time music jam sessions and story-telling
sessions within the restored buildings; and providing a public service to benefit the less
fortunate through such efforts as fund-raising events for such the Arthritis Foundation
and similar organizations. Designed and developed landscaping and waterfalls to reflect
early l9th century town.
WESTERN DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT COMPANY, Rolling Meadows, Illinois,
REGIONAL ENGINEER 1988 1990
Oversee the construction, renovation and maintenance of strip shopping centers, malls
and office facilities throughout the Midwest. Negotiate
and award contracts with trades people, administrate budgets and supervise a
staff of twenty. In addition, troubleshoot problem areas outside of region. Also developed
a detailed preventative maintenance manual. Major Accomplishment: Saved company a
substantial amount of money in one year through better utilization of in-house
maintenance.
DRS RESTORATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT, INC., Clarendon Hills, Illinois,

Provided management services to various Chicagoland firms. Experienced in working with
health clubs, strip shopping centers, hotels, commercial office buildings, schools, etc.
Strong in contract union negotiations.

1982 1984
Managed day and night crews of twelve employees in all major aspects of facilities
management. Reconstructed and renovated unused space in classroom and sturdy areas.
Developed and implemented HVAC maintenance program. Negotiated and awarded contracts and
supervised architects, engineers and new construct/renovations. Also staffed personnel and
created budgets.
DRS RESTORATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT, Clarendon Hills, Illinois, OWNERS
1974 1980
Involved in all phases of residential, commercial and retail restoration/construction,
Responsible for sales and operations of the general contracting and development firm.
Supervised up to twenty-five employees.
ADDITIONAL
EMPLOYMENT * Performed part-time work as a fire inspector/firefighter for Village of
Westmont. Completed extensive three-year training course that included advanced
firefighting, electricity, construction and structural design and sprinkler systems.
Responsible for all local and national LSC, NFPA, NEC, NFC, OSHA and BOCA code
enforcement. Also acted as consultant regarding firefighting equipment, fire prevention
and rescue operations for residential and industrial environments.
